Attempted robbery
SUNBURY - Police here are investigating an attempted robbery at a residence in the 300 block of Race Street late Monday night.
Police reported an unidentified male dressed in black and wearing a mask over his face entered the home and held a male at knifepoint while demanding items. The assailant then ran from the house after being confronted by another person in the home.
The intruder was last seen running east on Pennsylvania Avenue onto Speece Street.

Defendant found guilty
SHAMOKIN - David A. Demarco, 25, of 429 W. Second St., Mount Carmel, was found guilty of a summary offense of harassment during a trial Tuesday morning before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III.
Demarco, who was ordered to pay a $300 fine plus costs, was found not guilty of disorderly conduct. A misdemeanor of simple assault was withdrawn.
He was charged by Shamokin Police Chief Darwin Tobias III with slapping his wife, Amber, grabbing her throat and pulling her hair July 13 in the 300 block of North Vine Street. Police said Demarco also threatened to kill the victim, who suffered injuries to her throat and left arm.
DUI
COAL TOWNSHIP - Trooper Nicholas Bressler of state police at Stonington charged Alexa Rae Caulder, 19, of 1206 Pulaski Ave., Coal Township, with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, failing to exhibit her driver's license, failing to drive in a single lane, careless driving, failing to wear a seat belt and operating with alcohol in her system while being a minor.
The charges relate to a July 18 traffic stop on Route 225 in Coal Township.
Police said Caulder had a blood-alcohol content of .128 percent.
DUI
SHAMOKIN - Samuel J. Rumberger, 59, of 1457 W. Walnut St., Coal Township, was charged by Trooper Jared Mowen of state police at Stonington with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol involving a July 17 traffic stop at Second and Penn streets.
Police said Rumberger had a blood-alcohol content of .182 percent.
DUI
SHAMOKIN - Rachel L. Sahutsky, 25, of 162 Fifth St., Apt. B, Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and a turn signal violation in connection with a July 12 traffic stop at Independence and Market streets.
Police said Sahutsky had a blood-alcohol content of .210 percent.
Drug offense
SHAMOKIN - Chief of Police Darwin Tobias III has charged Jason Ruskuski, 35, of 67 S. Oak St., Coal Township, with possession of drug paraphernalia relating to a July 22 incident at Water and Third streets.
Police reported Ruskuski was found in possession of six syringes, a bent spoon and cotton swabs.
Public nuisance
SHAMOKIN - George Atiyeh, 56, of 147 S. Maple St., Mount Carmel, has been charged by Cpl. Bryan Primerano with misdemeanors of causing a public nuisance and disorderly conduct relating to a building he owns at 805 E. Commerce St. that collapsed at about 5:20 p.m. Saturday.
Atiyeh, a co-owner of Apartments and Acquisitions, has been cited numerous times in the past for code and safety violations at the Commerce Street building and other properties he owns in Shamokin, Mount Carmel and other communities.
Retail theft
COAL TOWNSHIP - Patrolman Matthew Hashuga has cited three people for retail theft involving separate incidents at Walmart Supercenter.
Dina Delorenzo, 46, of Shamokin, was cited for allegedly stealing $65.41 in merchandise June 5.
Jessica L. McCollum, 34, of Kulpmont, and a 13-year-old girl from Kulpmont were cited for allegedly removing $76.14 and $95.13 worth of merchandise, respectively, June 17.
