Two vehicle crash
COAL TOWNSHIP - No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 11:23 a.m. Wednesday in the area of Route 61 and Feeney Street.
Police report a 1995 Ford Ranger truck, driven by David Nowroski, of 127 E. Spurzheim St., Shamokin, and a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by John Pogera, of 124 Railroad St., Locust Gap, were traveling north in the passing lane of Route 61. Pogera was stopped at the traffic signal for a yellow light when the Equinox was struck in the rear by the truck.
Both vehicles sustained light damage, and police cited Nowroski for following too closely.
Drug charges filed
KULPMONT - Borough police charged Peggy Miller, 35, of 917 Chestnut St., Apt. B, with possession of a controlled substance, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after a June 19 incident in the 700 block of Fir Street.
Kulpmont Police Patrolman Patrick McAndrew reported officers were called to help state police for a patient evaluation. At the scene, Miller was being treated by ambulance personnel. Police say that in her possession was a red bag with the name "Kick" on the label, commonly used to package synthetic marijuana. Miller was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for Aug. 5.
Burglary
SUNBURY - City police are investigating a residential burglary that occurred in the overnight hours Wednesday in the 400 block of Fairmount Avenue.
Police say that someone entered a home through a back door while the resident wasn't home. The thief went through the home and removed several items, including a laptop, tablet, used cellphones and bank cards.
Sunbury police are asking if anyone has any video surveillance of any suspicious people in the area, from 3 p.m. Tuesday through the early morning hours of Wednesday, or who may have information on the burglary, to contact the Sunbury Police at 570-286-4587 or 570-988-4539.
Drug paraphernalia
KULPMONT - Ryan A. McKenna, 29, of 835 Spruce St., Kulpmont, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after his mother. Natalie Swank, reported seeing various items of drug paraphernalia in his room on May 4.
Swank told police that she found two glass smoking pipes containing burned residue, 136 plastic bags commonly used to package drugs and a pocket scale. When questioned, McKenna told police the pipes were not his, but admitted to using the scale and bags to measure and weigh marijuana when he used to sell it.
The charge against McKenna was filed by Kulpmont Police Chief Michael Pitcavage with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 5.
