Packages stolen

COAL TOWNSHIP - Susan Clements, 53, of 1101 E. Race St., reported to Coal Township Police sometime between June 20 and 27, someone stole two packages that were delivered to her residence.

Anyone with information regarding the theft is asked to contact Coal Township Police at 570-644-0333.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - Krista Merlino, 18, and Joel Santiago, 18, both of 1008 W. Lynn St., Coal Township, were cited for disorderly conduct after an incident at 4:20 a.m. Saturday at 236 S. Shamokin St.

Shamokin City Police Patrolman Nathan Rhodes reported the two were involved in an altercation with Merlino yelling into the street after Santiago allegedly threw a chair through a window at that location.

Failure to register

SUNBURY - Robert L. Shaffer, 45, with a last known address of 424 Race St., Sunbury, was charged with failure to comply with registration requirements by Sunbury City Police after an investigation that began on June 1.

According to court documents filed by Sunbury Police Sgt. Christopher Blase, city police received a request to realease a community notification for Shaffer, a Megan's Law violator. Chief Bradley Hare proceeded to the address given by Shaffer, the occupants stated they knew Shaffer, but he did not live there. They also stated they did not give Shaffer permission to use their address, and that he was currently homeless.

Shaffer was located and arraigned Friday before on-call Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin, and placed in prison on $5,000 bail. A preliminary hearing on the charge was scheduled for Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge Benjamin Apfelbaum, of Sunbury.

Skateboard citation

SHAMOKIN - A 14-year-old Shamokin male was cited by Shamokin City Police Patrolman First Class Scott Weaver for violating a city ordinance after being found trespassing and skateboarding in the area of the bandstand at Claude Kehler Park, West Arch Street, at 2:05 p.m. Monday.

Harassment

SHAMOKIN - Victoria Steckler, 47, of 2371 Stetler Drive, Coal Township, was cited for harassment by Shamokin City Police after allegedly texting and calling her ex-boyfriend, David Reed, numerous times at 11 a.m. Monday after being told by Reed and the police to stop doing so. The citation was filed by Patrolman Scott Weaver and filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - William Miller, 62, of 433 W. Pine St., was cited for disorderly conduct by Shamokin City Police Patrolman Shane Mowery after allegedly urinating in public in the area of Ninth and Independence streets at 1:40 p.m. on June 26.

Graffiti warning

CENTRALIA - In light of recent news coverage on the abandoned section of Route 61 in Centralia, sometimes referred to as "The Graffiti Highway," the Pennsylvania State Police reminds the public that spray painting the highway is a violation of the law.

Anyone caught in the act of spray painting the highway will face criminal mischief charges.
